چکیده

This paper investigates the modelling of confusion in product encryption by statistical means, to support understanding of the avalanche effect of the continuous application of an encryption step or round. To facilitate the modelling, a metric for confusion is proposed and its appropriateness and properties verified against broadly accepted theoretical assumptions. The regression analysis showed that confusion can be approximated by well-known econometrics functions. 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Diffusion Behaviour of Cryptographic Primitives in Feistel Networks

The concept of product encryption is resident in the majority of symmetric block ciphers. Along with product encryption, two properties were also defined by Shannon, namely diffusion and confusion. In a product cipher such as a Feistel Network (FN), or generally a Substitution Permutation Network (SPN), diffusion is dependent upon two types of primitives, the nonlinear transformation and the sw...

The Effect of Information Rate and Store Environment on Purchasing Value; Analysis of the Role of Confusion and Motivational Tendency

Objective A great number of customers spend much more time than expected on shopping because of a lot of reasons like variety in products. Thus, they may feel confused and disappointed. Such confusion can influence purchasing procedure and determine purchasing behavior. Such customers fail to purchase wisely and may face difficulty choosing appropriate and reasonable products. However, if the ...

Side-channel Analysis of Lightweight Ciphers: Current Status and Future Directions

Side-channel attacks represent a powerful category of attacks against cryptographic devices. Still, side-channel analysis for lightweight ciphers is much less investigated than for instance for AES. Although in tuition may lead to the conclusion that lightweight ciphers are weaker in terms of side-channel resistance, that remains to be confirmed and quan tified. In this paper, we consider var...

A New Application of Stochastic Transformation

Abstract—In cryptography, confusion and diffusion are very important to get confidentiality and privacy of message in block ciphers and stream ciphers. There are two types of network to provide confusion and diffusion properties of message in block ciphers. They are SubstitutionPermutation network (S-P network), and Feistel network. NLFS (Non-Linear feedback stream cipher) is a fast and secure ...
